Mundane scene
Part of a figured frieze originally consisting of two superimposed registers, the upper one depicting figures in various attitudes. The lower one only preserves a head. The dividing band is carved with a geometric motif which is not discernible. The cornice has a row of carenated upright left-and-dart.
A male figure, probably a nobleman, is seating between two attendants leaning towards him; the outline is all that remains of the figure on the left. The nobleman is seating on a throne and wears a short tunic. To the left a standing female figure, tilted to her right, holds a palm branch in her left, while bringing her right hand to her mouth in surprise or admiration. To the left, a male figure stands in frontal position, the head turned to his right. His right hand rests on the out-thrust hip. He wears a short tunic and carries a sword.
