Buddha and devotee

Fragment of a figured cornice depicting a buddha and devotees. The base consists of a plain fillet. Vertical parallel tool marks run on the back of the relief. A rectangular tenon is visible on the bottom. The figured field shows a buddha and a devotee originally under an arch with pendants. On the right, a buddha is sitting in padmāsana and dhyānamudrā. He is wrapped in the saṃghāti with covered hands and feet. On the right, a male devotee is crouching and turning towards the buddha. He has joined hands and wears a paridhāna and an uttarīya. The figures are separated by a framed semi-column of the Gandharan-Corinthian type.
