Buddha and bodhisattva

Fragment of a relief depicting a buddha and a bodhisattva. Deep horizontal chisel marks run on the back of the object. On the right sits a bodhisattva in padmāsana, he wears large globular earrings, and his hair is up in a bun with a string at the base. He has a plain nimbus around the head. His eyes are semi-closed and he has a delicate smile with thin lips. To his right sits a buddha in padmāsana, of which remains little more than the outline. He is wrapped in the saṃghāti and has a plain nimbus around the head. His left hand is exposed and held in an unidentifiable gesture. Above the figures and in between them there are remnants of a framing element, probably a garland with pendants.
