Bodhisattva Maitreya and devotee
Fragment of a relief preserving the bodhisattva Maitreya and a devotee.
Maitreya is sitting in padmāsana and dhyānamudrā probably over a lotus with reverse petals, of which only the pistil remains. He is holding a globular kamaṇḍalu between the fingers of the left hand. He wears a paridhāna and an uttarīya, ring-shaped earrings, a short flat band necklace, a long necklace with multiple strands, and wristlets with raised edges. On the left in the background, the head outline of a figure is discernible.
