Buddha and devotees
Part of a relief preserving three identical scenes depicting a buddha with devotees – the side ones are broken. The scenes are separated by a semi-column of the Gandharan-Persepolitan type.
The moulded base is decorated with a straight festoon with opposite ovate leaves facing right and between a fillet. The cornice shows a wavy pattern. The top face features two rectangular sockets and two Kharoṣṭhī marks.
The buddha is standing frontally, his right hand was in abhayamudrā, the left is holding an edge of the saṃghāti. He has a plain nimbus. On both his sides are two identical male devotees. They are all in a quarter view and with joined hands. They wear a paridhāna, an uttarīya, a skull-cap turban with a fantail, earrings and wristlets. The left scene preserves a buddha with two devotees, the right scene only two devotees.
