Buddha

A stele statue depicting the Buddha. The base is moulded and its front and sides faces are decorated with a row of rosette-and-sheaf. A vertical rectangular tenon is carved on the bottom face. The Buddha is standing frontally, the weight of the body is placed on his right leg. His right hand is in abhayamudrā and shows a circular sign on the palm and a web between the fingers. His left is holding an edge of the saṃghāti. The drapery are rendered in well-spaced, V-shaped ridges. The figure has half-closed eyes and hair with vertical strands converging at the centre. The uṣṇīṣa is separate. The nimbus is bordered with radiate leaves of half rosette with mid-rib, and has a plain band. The remains of the shaft of an umbrella, running on the back face of the statue, are preserved on the upper part of the nimbus.
