Buddha
A statue depicting the Buddha. The back shows tool marks.
He is sitting in padmāsana on a low seat with turned legs and a drape hanging from the front. His right hand is in abhayamudrā and shows a web between the fingers, his left is holding an edge of the saṃghāti. He is wrapped in the overrobe with covered feet. The overrobe shows a prominent round neckline. The garment folds are dense ridges, straight to V-shaped on the chest and rounded concentric on the lower hem. This latter and the gathered edge, draped in three flat rigid pipe folds, fall on the seat.
The Buddha has open eyes, a small nose, and a full mouth. The hair is parted in the middle with continuous, vertical waves, and the uṣṇīṣa is not separate. The nimbus has a radiate border and a plain field.
