Bodhisattva

Part of a stele statue depicting a Bodhisattva. The back face shows tool marks. The bodhisattva has large eyes, a pointed moustache, and a plump mouth. He has straight hair with curled tips at the front and a central ribbon knot held by a string at the base. The head was originally surrounded by a nimbus with a radiate border, of which only a fragment survives. He wears an uttarīya that leaves the chest exposed. The figure wears a short flat band necklace decorated with a row of double tangential concentric disks with a central small circle and a long necklace with multiple strands and lion head endings facing a central stone. He also wears large earrings.
