Ascetics

Fragment of a relief representing two ascetics. The base is plain. On the back of the relief vertical parallel deep chisel marks are visible. The complete figure in the middle represents a young ascetic standing with the body slightly tilted to his left, with the head turned to his right. He holds a water pot in his right hand, and his left is raised. He wears a short tunic of the exomis type. The hair is pulled up in a loose knot probably held by a ring string. Before him, an elder ascetic, shown in profile, is standing and bowing. He is dressed in a short robe. Profiles of other broken elements are visible at both ends of the fragmented figured field.
