Mundane scene

Part of a figured frieze originally consisting of two superimposed registers – the lower one is not preserved – separated by a fillet decorated with a motif which is not discernible. The cornice shows a stylized vine scroll. On the back are vertical marks of chisel. In the surviving register are four standing figures. On the left are the remains of a female figure with the right hand raising up. In the middle is a male and female couple. The male figure is frontal with his head turning left to the female figure, his left hand is resting on the hip and the left is holding a spear. He wears a short tunic, a mantle, trousers, and shoes. The female figure is in the right profile with the right hand stretching out towards him. She is clad with a long tunic and a mantle draped over the left arm. On the right is a male figure identical to the previous one.
