Female figure
A Gandharan-Corinthian capital depicting a female figure. A rectangular socket is carved in the bottom face. The back face shows vertical tool marks.
Two rosettes originally stemming from the kalathos lips – the shape of the right rosette is still visible – are carved on the moulded abacus. The female figure, shown frontally in bust and with the head turning to the right, is emerging from the upper central acanthus leaf. Her right hand was raised, the left is holding a palm leaf. She possibly wears a sleeved garment, and has a short necklace and earrings with vertical cylinder.
