Buddha

A statue depicting the Buddha. The back face shows tool marks. The Buddha is sitting in padmāsana over a seat with a cushion. The right hand is in abhayamudrā, the palm is marked by a cakra. The left hand holds an edge of the saṃghāti. He is wrapped in the overrobe with toes of the left foot exposed. The face is oval and shows wide open eyes, arched eyebrows, a circular ūrṇā, and a dropping moustache. The hair is rendered with lateral continuous waves converging at the centre. The uṣṇīṣa is separate and tied by a string with a central stone. The nimbus is bordered with radiate rays and a plain fillet.
